I’m writing my last post from home, in the US, where sinks have only one faucet rather than separate faucets for hot and cold water. That’s one thing I won’t miss about the UK. I will miss Cardiff, though, and the people I met there.
My last night abroad was a great way to end my trip. I went to the Cardiff Uni Summer Ball, which is an annual event on the last night of the semester and which I was told is the second largest student event in the UK. The Ball was a black-tie event with fun fair rides (a roller-coasterish ride and bumper cars), lots of live music, and lots of people – I think somewhere around 7,000 students attended the event. Although tickets were quite expensive, a musician whose music I came to like during my time in Cardiff was playing, so I decided that it would be the perfect way to finish up the semester. It was definitely worth it, and Calvin Harris put on a great performance – the atmosphere was just electrifying. And it was my last chance to see my British friends before flying back home. It’s both odd and sad to think that many of those people I may never see again.
Well, that wraps up my study abroad blog. If you ever have the chance to visit Cardiff, I definitely recommend it!
Cheers,
Lea
