The great thing about college in Australia is that you get a lot of time off to study. I was fortunate to have two weeks to study for my final exams, so naturally, I decided to travel during this time. I headed up to Fraser Island, a World Heritage Area, with five other friends from the Colgate group. Fraser Island was definitely the coolest place we've been to, in terms of natural features. It's the largest sand island on the world. It's full of clear, freshwater lakes, enormous sand dunes, and dingoes (the Australian wild dogs, which were responsible for eating Meryl Streep's baby). There are also no roads on the island. To get around, you have to drive a 4x4 SUV on soft sands, and the beaches are the highways. Needless to say, driving on Fraser Island is not so easy, especially when you're driving a manual car. We stalled so many times, and we even got bogged in sand. We had to get the car dragged out of the sand because the tires were completely buried!
