Inauguration Day is tomorrow. I’m incredibly excited for the changes on the horizon and what Obama means for America and the World. I’m sure the campus is abuzz with Inauguration excitement.
At work, I hit January running with recent changes to Ning’s Terms of Service that caused brouhaha amongst some Network Creators and members as Ning updated the types of acceptable networks on the Ning Platform. My team was busy helping and fielding questions and concerns from members and Network Creators with regards to these changes. It has been fascinating to see how these changes to our Terms of Service were received and the slew of issues my team faced as a direct result. Exciting, for sure and definitely a test for what a small team with in a larger organization can manage, tackle and report back to the company as a whole. I continue to be challenged at Ning, and my team is incredibly awesome. I feel really lucky to be here and am part of something with a whole lot of potential, challenge and opportunity. Fortunately, we’ve had the long weekend to relax a bit and my team is now able to focus on internal projects we’ve wanted to complete for quite some time. I’m back up in Sun Valley, Idaho with my family for the long weekend and it has been such a nice break from reality.
I haven’t spent much time in San Francisco since 2009 has begun as I was in Sun Valley right after New Years, spent the next weekend up in South Lake Tahoe with friends, and now I’m back up in Idaho. 2009 also ushered in two new roommates into my house, Katie and Wagner. I haven’t had a lot of time to hang out with them yet, but we all went out in our neighborhood to a spontaneous Rock Band night at the Rock-it Room (sounds like a nerd-fest for sure, but it was fun to watch). As such, I’m looking forward to being home in San Francisco next weekend to hang out, and I’m planning to check out Andy Warhol’s exhibit at the new Contemporary Jewish Museum. I had the chance to see Slumdog Millionaire with a co-worker down in Palo Alto last week. Definitely check it out if you have the chance! I particularly wanted to see Slumdog because of courses studied at Colgate in which I learned about the Indianization of American television. India remains one of the next places I want to explore in the world.
The weekend after next, I’m off to New Year City to say “Bon Voyage” to Sian-Pierre Regis ’06, who is leaving for Paris, France shortly. As always, I’ll take any excuse to visit friends in New York City, especially for close friends moving halfway around the world. I’m looking forward to it, despite the frigidly cool temperatures blanketing much of the East Coast.
