Hello July! It's Thursday, but it feels more like Friday since tomorrow is the 4th of July!
All of my roommates are going to be out of town with their family for the holiday. I'm actually excited to stay put in San Francisco... here's hoping for some warm and non-foggy weather for the Fireworks tomorrow night.
During the day, I'll probably meet up with my sister and her fiance, Angus, and then I'm planning on going to my friend Evan's house for a BBQ and to watch the fireworks from his amazing Potrero Hill bay view. The rest of the weekend will be spent taking it easy!
Over the past few weekends, I've been pretty busy. Two weekends ago, I did the impossible: I went SKYDIVING with my roommates. I was absolutely terrified and by-far the most nervous about jumping out of a plane. After a considerable 9-hour delay, we did a tandem jump down in Monterrey, CA. Jon, my roommate had bets going that I wouldn't jump. Truth be told, the scariest part about skydiving is the actual jump (not the falling part), and the seconds before as you hobble toward the door and stand at the edge of the plane door and gaze out onto the sky. At that moment, I realized "Holy ****! I'm actually about to jump out of this plane! ... #$%#^$#&$#$#". The fall itself was really intense, and the sound from the air rushing past is louder than you might expect. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, and I can safely say that I will never be doing that again.
Last weekend, Danielle Whicher '07 was out in SF for work and she stayed at my house. I saw her back in April when I was in New York for Allie Weinreb's reunion, and we had such a good time in San Francisco. The last time Danielle had been out in SF was about 10 years ago, so needless to say, it was a packed weekend as we did everything we could in the City. It was really great to see her, and she may coming back out in the Fall for another business trip.
On the Colgate front, I believe the Colgate Club of N. California is planning on having a bonfire at Ocean Beach on July 13, and our Send-Off Party for the Class of 2012 (whoa) is on July 20 in San Francisco!
Have a safe and fun 4th of July everyone!
